Abstract: That which makes up the common practices of Western Music can be explained through scales and intervals, triads, harmonic progression, tonality and modality, chords of the sixth-the figured bass, the harmonic structure of the phrase, part-writing, harmonization of a given part, honharmonic tones, the six-four chord, cadences, harmonic rhythm, modulation, the dominant seventh chord, secondary dominants, irregular resolutions, the diminished 7th chord, the incomplete major 9th, the sequence, nondominant harmony - 7th chords, and 9th, 11th, and 13th chords. That knowledge gets us a certain degree of musical understanding.

Abstract: Every rhythm has a story behind it. Each beat part of a greater set. Many cultures consider the bringing forth of a rhythm to be the introduction to a spirit, mathematically unique and, if brought forth properly, alive in its own right.
